Stone and Sand Quarry Automation
In July 2003, AMR designed and installed an automation system for a large stone and sand quarry located in upstate New York and owned by a global aggregate corporation. The scope of the project included the automation of the plant's secondary crushing and feed operations. Listed below are several highlights and parameters of the project, the major equipment that was automated and the major equipment and software AMR utilized in implementing the system.
Project Parameters and Highlights:
- Auto-start with coil verify for all major automated equipment
- Monitoring of disconnect handle and overload for each motor starter
- Customer requested interlocks
- Control of four VSDs (variable speed drives) and feeders by means of 4-20ma
- Motor current monitoring for three crushers and one conveyor
- Monitoring of two belt scales- one 120V and one 4-20ma input for each
- Fiber optic connection of PCs between primary and secondary control towers
- Fixed lens camera system
- On-site training
- Documentation package of automation system
